EXPANDING BEAUTY TO REFLECT HUMANITY

In partnership with our Education Director, Mahogany Plautz, Head to Toe is excited to present Detangled Hair Education. These courses will focus on offering salon services to our diverse community. Our goal is to offer a safe space for everyone to learn without judgement about different hair textures, to create more inclusive salons.

Class Formats

All classes are held in-person at Head to Toe Salon. We will offer both Look & Learn (lecture-based) and Hands-On Classes. Many courses will offer continuing education credits. See class descriptions for more information.

Meet Mahogany Plautz (she/her/hers)

Y'all, I am a hairstylist who likes to share the things I have learned on my journey. My highs & lows. My successes & failures.

Starting as a reservationist at 19, eventually I realized I had to do hair. I worked my way through school to became a salon stylist in 2000. From there my love of hair, people & education has taken me into salons & on stages around the country. One thing I have learned is that remaining curious is the key to being inspired.

Maya Angelou says, "My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive, and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor & some style." I couldn't agree more!
